These look as good in person as in the photos. They are thick and not floppy at all, and would work well as a trivet. Since they are silicone, they are easy to clean when they collect greasy smudges. These would be an excellent choice for when you are worried a trivet could scratch either the object you are setting on it or the surface you are setting it on, or for when you want a trivet as much to keep something from sliding as to protect the surface.The other uses suggested in the listing are not very practical: They are too stiff to easily use as a jar opener, and the design has too many large holes to be safe to use as a pot holder (although they could work as a second layer if you have a solid potholder that is a bit too thin). Protecting surfaces from heat or impact from objects is what they are designed for, and they do that well.
