Review on 🌍 Ultimate Navigation Companion: Garmin eTrex H Handheld GPS Navigator by Paul Williams

I've owned (and lost) a previous Garmin E-trex so I knew what to expect. On my first ride with this "Enter" key, it became very, very difficult to press, to the point where I had to use a blunt object to press it (no finger pressure helped - fingertips are too soft ). It's also the button used for waypoints, so I just had to follow the "footprints" back because the waypoints got too complicated. There are no integrated maps. There is no way to move around the screen - you can only zoom in or out. Without buying an extra cable to connect to the computer, I don't think it's possible to pre-enter routes (e.g. enter serial UTM coordinates). Displays distance travelled, average speed and current location (choice of formats including UTM). It's not a compass - it has to move to show direction. Others have complained about the batteries. I used old NiMH batteries and did 4 hours of hikes with no sweat. I think Duracell NiMH batteries should perform excellently on long trips - *always* carry plenty of spare batteries if you're going to rely on Trex. Did what I needed - parted ways when I got "lost" on the return flights, which is what I needed. Is the most accurate WAAS positioning *not* configured by default? I would recommend, change the settings to the most sensitive/accurate when small deviations in your route can quickly throw you off course.
