Let me start by saying that this scanner can do almost anything you want it to do. It scans documents or business cards and has a duplex scanning function. It can scan in black and white, color or grayscale and also has variable resolution settings so you can work with it to get the right scan. In general, this item is almost identical to the DocketPort line of scanners. The included scanning program has exactly the same structure as DocketPort, so once you're used to it, this scanner will look pretty familiar. Except for the logo glued on top, it even looks the same. It mostly works as expected. However, this scanner has some strange properties. For example, pressing the scan button on the scanner itself does nothing. It doesn't even ask you to open the program. As far as I can tell, the built-in scan button is just for decoration. While this doesn't affect the ability to scan documents (a feature that can be controlled via the PC app), it's a bit annoying. Also, if you try to scan a glossy document (like a high-quality photo or driver's license) in black and white, the resolution becomes terrible. Simply changing the settings in color solves this problem, but results in larger image files. Overall, however, this scanner is a worthwhile purchase. It's one of the cheapest in its class and features are nearly identical to (slightly) more expensive brands. So if you're looking to save $40 over your closest competitor, check out the Brother DS700.
