There are better steel spools, but they are also more expensive. As long as you place your foot or hand on the base of this roller, it will remain stationary while rolling. If you can't or don't want to, avoid this reel and opt for a steel reel. Some buyers write that they don't like the wrap design, but that's the standard. You find the middle of the cord and hook it onto a small hook built into the spool. Then wind the spool until the cable is fully wound which will result in the 2 ends being wound in the last few pieces so they are easily accessible. When you're ready to use it, connect one end and run the coil halfway to its destination.
