I have my own computer shop so thought I'd post a review to help some people who are having trouble with this drive because we did. (Disclaimer, we're not a Mac shop, but we know enough to help people avoid using it.) A backup copy was made before cleaning the drive. We installed it on a 2014 Mac that matched the Mac compatibility list and wrestled with it for a day trying to figure out why the drive wasn't showing up in the available drives list. We used the /cmd/r solution like everyone else. Upon purchasing another drive, we found that because we decided that this drive was defective, the other company had a disclaimer that the drive would not be recognized unless the host computer was updated to a newer Mac OSX (this was Mavericks) driver for the card was not available on older OSX. So, the steps we took (at your own risk) 1. Erased the host disk it contained (it was full of junk) 2. Clean install Mavericks3. Updated to Catalina 4. Quit Mac5. Disk6 removed. installed a new DataRam7 drive. Turn on with Option/cmd/R8. used the dis utility to format it for use9. New Mac OSX installed. This process took a few hours due to the poor internet connection. So if you are having trouble, you can try these steps.
