After 15 years, the internally powered amp of the 12" Infinity subwoofer I loved so much has finally breathed its last, with an incessant hum that couldn't be rectified without trying to replace all the capacitors on the internal circuit board and I didn't dare to do it. Given that the speaker and cabinet itself were in great shape and I liked the sound, I decided to see if I could replace the internal amplifier board with something else. After some research I came across this little amp that seemed worth a try as I no longer had to worry about crossover or satellite connections, so I removed the sub's back panel, grabbed a piece of 1/4" fiber board and started with that Build new back panel to have this amp built in. I installed a panel mount RCA jack and soldered a lead wire from it to a 1/8" mono jack for the input to the amp; and used the rest of the old amp to wire as The inside is a shelf for this guy and also to hold the DC power supply in place I also used (cough) some hot glue to seal the amp and power cord entry into the panel It's not pretty but it is works fine easy to remove if i need to.after all that is plugged in and switched on my old subwoofer is working again with no hum and sounds great!hope fu For fifty bucks I can get the Expect the sub to serve another 15 years!
