I've tried different shower caps to keep my hair dry on the days I don't shampoo. I have thick, shoulder length hair that is just frizzy enough to frizz when wet. I also have very carefully styled bangs that are very difficult to alter. I first tried a luxurious turban-style shower cap with a bow in the front, and it completely ruined my bangs. Then I tried on a satin-lined beanie. it was too small, smelled like toxic waste until I washed it several times and worst of all the water seeped into the edges of the satin. That meant the satin lining got wet and my hair got wet. That's exactly what I didn't want! This Betty Dain Socialite Collection Cap is perfect. It has enough room for my hair, doesn't pinch or tangle my bangs and doesn't smell like toxic waste. The edge of the hat, where the terry cloth lining is sewn to the nylon shell, is covered with a separate waterproof fabric to prevent the terry cloth lining from absorbing water. Yes, the gums are *tight*. This is necessary so that water does not flow under the edges of the lid. Yes there will be a visible mark on the forehead but it will disappear and in my case the mark is hidden under my bangs. And frankly, if you don't have bangs, I'd go for one of the turban-style hats with a bow at the front because the elastic isn't as tight. But for hair like mine, this hat is just right!
