DDM cold air intake unit on my MINI R50. I chose this fan because it is from a real motorsport company and is designed for motorsport use (unlike a bilge pump). It occurred to me that I could use a 3" silicone hose and route this fan from the fresh air intake behind the grille along the top of the radiator into the cold air intake box. It can be activated with a switch under my dashboard. When the fan isn't on, it still lets a lot of air through. I haven't tested it on a dyno and I don't think it really adds power (but maybe because a lot of air gets into the intake plenum and builds up pressure), but it does prevent power loss from overheating under the hood. The only downside is that from the outside it looks a bit like an under-bonnet hair dryer, but the MINI's air conditioning fan is so loud that it's barely noticeable and you can't hear it inside the car.
