Half price DeWalt - seems to do everything it says on the tin. The pendulum lock inside makes it level once released when your surfaces are already within 4 degrees. If not, it will beep. You can buy another device to set this level to at least 4 degrees, with self-leveling working on surfaces that aren't perfectly flat. Most surfaces are within 4 degrees of the house so this should be fine for bonding purposes. Not being a master builder, I can't yet explain all possible uses, but when laying the floor, for example, I sometimes wanted to see where my floorboards would end up. I bought a dirty chalk line and didn't know how to use it. I can see how a horizontal plane can help align cabinets for example. I would imagine it would be that easy with self leveling and wall marking where needed. Some will say you're no pro, but I'd say it's easier to use than a plumb bob or chalk to correct things in seconds. This actually helps amateurs more than seasoned professionals to perform some tricky alignments where they have more skill. So start at the very beginning of your life with the work that you would probably avoid if you didn't have it. Even simple things like hanging pictures on the stairs at the perfect angle. You start saying "Dude, it would be nice if I had this a long time ago" when you get it. I can think of at least 10 things I've done in the past that would be easier with this one. You have no idea how difficult it is for a layman to draw a very wide horizontal line on a wall. You will need a ladder, a spirit level and a pencil and mark the wall over the entire area. Again, I'm an amateur, so excuse the pros if you can use a chalk line and say it's not necessary. In 2020, nobody should do anything the old-fashioned way at work or at home.
