Great for road trips!

Great purchase! Bought this for my step-daughter for Christmas as we constantly drive the car between our house and her mother's house. What a lifesaver! She totally loves it! The remote control is a bit tiny and difficult for a 6 year old considering she can't read very well and there are a lot of buttons but after some explaining she got it down. The only annoying thing is that the main buttons aren't in the typical places (volume is mixed with other adjustment buttons) and we have to describe where it is/how it looks, but that's because I'm picky (and a parent behind the Steering wheel ).It feels of lower quality than others I've had in the past, but it holds up in car park falls from the child seat and a chalk-colored screen crash (nothing to do with the quality per se, but it's been cleaned). pretty easy with a little elbow grease). The buttons on the actual DVD player and remote control aren't as sturdy and responsive as I'd hoped, but she wasn't complaining! TIP: After a few months we learned that to change the volume without the remote you have to press and hold the Skip Fwd/Backward button. Maybe not a tip, but we couldn't figure it out after we "misplaced" the remote (oops). Probably more, never measured properly, but our car rides are about 4.5 hours one-way, and she might have to put in the last hour or two on the way back to mom's. The cables are a little short so the DVD player needs to be placed strategically in the car BUT the swiveling screen is a great solution for that! She can twist it as she needs to so she's comfortable even if she sees him lying down or bending over. It also comes with a connection to the TV, which is great for us, but doesn't come with the RCA cables(?) (the yellow-red-white cables). a friend. Chances are you know someone who lived through the 90's and has an extra somewhere with those VCRs ;) I can't figure out how to convert my DVDs to a flash drive or SD card, so can I have nothing to say about that. Side note: suggestions would be welcome! We took the discs out of their cases and kept them all in a CD holder, which is difficult for them to handle while driving, but we had a lesson on proper DVD/CD etiquette (holding techniques, press stop before opening , put it back in the holder, etc.) and she's a pro! I hope to get some .mp4 files soon for easier filmmaking! All in all this is a great product for the price. Much cheaper and more consumption than an iPad. They get bored of my iPad after a few hours and no wifi. She loves having her own electronic device (a good lesson in responsibility before she gets her own iPad one day) and it will keep her busy and calm for hours. She is completely satisfied with her "TV" and I recommend it to everyone! Happy child, happy parents!
