Thin fabric, OK to protect furniture from pet fur but not strong enough for most pets

I got this to protect my new velvet sofa from my cat. He loves to sleep on anything new and he has long hair. He immediately jumped on the sofa cover and within minutes he poked his nails through the cover and into the sofa. The cover is pretty thin more like a microfiber cloth. At least his fur is not all over the sofa. I washed it and it washed well. Photo after being used for a month and washed and dried. It is OK if your biggest concern is pet fur. It does not look good, it is obviously not custom made. Mine is used in a spare room where cats hang out most of the day so it works. I would not recommend for livingroom decor.
