Wow. While you must have the skills to install, I appreciate and marvel at what I find after my dryer has filtered out what it can do. My DIY husband is doing the installation and has the following tips: This is a very well built unit, nicely constructed and feels solid. Luckily I had access through the garage wall behind the dryer so I could cut a large hole without having to patch up in the laundry room - can't see trying to fit this into the main wall and get the fixture working without it Access from the back - there will be a lot of drywall repairs. If you know your way around drywall, do it, but for most DIYers this will be a chore. The main box needs to line up exactly with the exhaust pipe, so if your opening is even slightly off face, it will tilt. not pretty! After cutting the wall I found that the exhaust didn't go straight up the wall where I expected it to, so I would have a very ugly setup. I cut a very straight and square hole in the front wall and then went to the garage to widen the hole to make the necessary adjustments. This required some work and additional spacers behind the block (I used paint stirrers and crossed them between the walls). rivets - yes it looks like a hack but kept it straight!) and the device ended up fitting the hole perfectly. I couldn't get screws to hold it and hide it, so I decided on a quick fix. Installation took a lot longer than I planned, but the unit works great, constantly catching excess lint that would fall back into the extended dryer vent and start a major fire. Fear (which is why I had to take on this project from the start!). I am very happy with the whole project and more importantly, so is my wife!
