Totem S requires assembly, the USB includes instructions and a very helpful video and around 25 minutes to figure out how to install the laser software and use it with the examples. This laser engraver should be good for beginners, you should keep in mind that this is a small laser engraver, perfect for hobby or small work. . The simplicity of the design makes it easy to understand the work, especially if this is your first laser machine. The building materials are of good quality and the price is really good for what you get. You need some time to understand the software
