I don't know what I liked about this book when I bought it. I teach knitting, have worked in four different yarn shops for many years and have been successful in creating my own patterns. Maybe I saw the classic simplicity of the style and thought it would be a good source of inspiration. Something like a handbook for skilled knitters. Here the passion stopped. My first complaint? There were no warnings about the size of the patterns. I don't expect every knitting book to have patterns for a 48" bust, finished 50-52" bust measurements for each pattern. But there isn't even a size book for a woman with a bust over 40.". I don't like big sweaters, because I'm a tall woman. but that's it. what i can use here is inspiration because i have to write from the beginning which template i choose. Luckily I can. When I worked in a yarn shop, I was surprised at such a lack of understanding on the part of yarn shop owners. There are some buyers who will automatically pick up and buy a used ball of yarn, even if it has been used by another buyer, just to see how it will be knitted. Yarn store owners would be wise to have knitting patterns, and most of them do so so customers can feel and appreciate how they're going to knit. Asking a shopkeeper to let you knit a pattern is really too much, kitty. That being said, I have to compliment Kitty: You did something that many of us never thought of. I'm sure there are more knitters like me who got positive feedback on their original sweaters. Blankets, scarves etc but Kitty had all the means to take it to the next level and publish a book about it. Whether or not a person has the connections and resources, it takes a lot of hard work, personal thinking, and marketing to get this far.
