I bought this after some research. I have the W model (with 8 test ends removed). For the price, I definitely can't complain. I usually use Fluke at my employer. I find the device reliable (I dropped it twice on the spot, there was no stain on it). i am a cannibal I have to press buttons to make it start up a bit more than some other devices (still acceptable). Battery life for the tests I ran was good. The POE tester is a nice addition and it really works. A ping test will work IF THE DEVICE IS PROPERLY CONFIGURED FOR THE NETWORK SEGMENT YOU ARE IN. I like the automatic configuration feature, but if you have a problem with VLAN/port negotiation or are on the wrong network segment, it might not work (configuration is important for this tester). The link only appears when you are in an active quiz. The device is definitely a function tester. I got one star because I think they should be able to combine all the functionality in one RJ 45 for network testing and the like. I didn't use RJ 11, but I'm very grateful for the additional feature. So many times I've seen people not knowing what cables they had and it's nice to have them built into this tester. Overall, I have no regrets about this purchase and am happy with it. I wish it had a built in Vlan test option. I would also really appreciate a swappable battery option. I would recommend this technique on a budget.
