Definitely superior to non-gold plated needles.
I'm a cross stitcher and would like to try these needles to compare them to the non-gold plated needles. As announced, they glide very smoothly over the Aida fabric. They proved to be more durable than uncoated needles, which bent after a few uses. Some of the cheaper regular non-gold needles have had their tips cut off. These needles have smooth, finished ends that easily go through Aida. I've tried two brands of these gold plated tapestry needles and both were worth the extra cost.
