Do not think that the plates are ceramic
All the documentation accompanying the product mentions a non-stick coating - ceramic is not written anywhere. Posted questions remain unanswered. I returned this and got another brand which is actually ceramic. Very misleading as I'm pretty sure it's a toxic teflon coating.
