Strange that this part is needed at all as its only purpose is to make room on the brake pedal lever for a brake light switch which can be pushed down when the brake lever itself could be up be easy to do in eternity. But one engineer felt it was necessary, so here we are. The OEM version of this part costs 3-4 times as much, and let's face it, it's nothing more than a glorified thumbtack. There's little that can be wrong other than it breaking into small pieces prematurely, so this is a good deal for what it is. Installation is easy and if you need this part you probably have a car that is a few years old. Even if it lasts half as long as the original, the car itself might outlive it. I installed this on a 2001 Honda Civic. after my mother-in-law said her battery mysteriously died overnight. It turned out that the original part had shattered into pieces and the brake light switch was no longer able to be pressed, causing the brake lights to drain the battery. Brilliant technology! Anyway, I was able to easily install the new part in about ten minutes and it hasn't had any lighting issues for several months.
