Review on Glass Bottle Cutter Champagne KEBS_MALL by Karla Richter

Practice creates masters. they say :-)

I bought this little gadget because I had a crazy gift idea for my neighbor a few months ago; Glasses for bottles with beer. He always invites the boys over to his shop/barn every third Sunday night and everyone always has their own mug/thermos to pour their drink into after they've downed a bottle or a can or two. Although I doubt they will be used EVERY time I thought it would be nice to collect some empty bottles and turn them into drinking glasses :-) The set is very simple - great instructions to follow and gives you everything You need to cut open the bottle to be successful. Keep in mind that my first try was not 100% successful as you can see from the photos, but it had NOTHING to do with the product. I suspect my 2nd and 3rd attempts will be MUCH better. My 1st attempt failed because I didn't apply enough pressure during the cut/scoring phase of the first round; The wine bottle is not cracked after applying hot and cold water. SO (THE BIG NO NO) I put the bottle back on the machine and refilled it. My second attempt gave acceptable results. The bottle popped without much effort. However, as you can see in the photo, the edge is jagged because my second cut line didn't line up exactly with the first. I sanded the rest of the uneven part pretty quickly with my sander. After about 10 minutes of sanding with the included sandpaper, the bottle was safe to handle, wash and handle. The edges are very smooth, but I'm not going to drink from it just because I ended up hitting it twice. It looks pretty cute though and maybe I'll give it to his wife as a nice rose pot or something :-) I'm really looking forward to trying beer bottles again! Like I said, the whole process is REALLY easy and a fun little project for all ages :-) I forgot to mention they even give you an extra cutting/creasing disc, a glass drill (bit) and a small size rubber band give loops for snapping operation, suitable for different size bottles. Very happy with the product and the results. Beer bottle glasses, here I am! :-)
