My 5 year old still sleeps in the crib. He had slept on that cracked plastic mattress since birth. When he started sleeping on the floor because it was "comfortable," I knew it was time to get him a good mattress. I stumbled across this one. We unrolled it one night and printed it out to stretch out for him to use the next night. It had no unusually strong odors. When we draped his sheet over him, it was a perfect fit. This mattress seems MUCH bigger than the cracked mattresses from this big store but all the sheets fit and I liked that I didn't lose any books or toys in between. It seems so comfortable that I wanted to sleep on it. it's me. But unfortunately I am not a child. I can say that he stopped sleeping on the floor. We liked this change so much we turned around and bought another one for his 3 year old brother's bed. We have not tested the waterproofness of the mattress topper. A 3-year-old sleeps in a night diaper, a 5-year-old has a pad that goes under the bed covers because accidents can happen at his age. I think it works, but we're happy with using the pads we used on the back with the cracked mattress, just to protect it twice.
