Review on Stay Cool On The Go: AUSRANVIK 37 Quart Portable Fridge For Car Freezer - Perfect For Camping, Fishing, And Road Trips! by Van Masterson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

One Year Update - Meh

Update: Today the car adapter portion broke so I called customer service to order a replacement. The phone number on the company’s website led to some Mandarin speaker in China. Now the red piece is stuck in the outlet after each use. There’s no where that I can find a replacement cable for the car. So update is when it works it works besides the fan being loud at times when the vehicle is at an angle. If it breaks you’re screwed.Let me go ahead and make a detailed summary of my experience with this. The instructions or information it gives you may be a bit confusing. When I purchased this, it was a new item on Revain so it had $100 off making it about $263 I think. The cables it comes with are very long. A standard US household plug, and a car plug. I used it from a sedan to a 15 passenger van. It can stretch and reach so have no fears there. The socket that holds the unit is actually very secured. I was worried about making some turns that it’ll fall off; but it hasn’t at all. Not even slightly loose.Let’s talk temperature. When you plug it in, or start your car for that matter (ensure your vehicle doesn’t keep it running when the vehicle is off! My work truck (F-150) stays on, our cars turns off when keys are out) it goes back to your last set temperature. It goes down to -4F and up to 45F. I’ve stored things from meat through Costco, Ice Cream for hours, or my daily drinks to the office. What works best for me is I leave it at 30 degrees on the setting. It keeps frozen things cold for hours. My gallons of milk doesn’t freeze in a hour. And my soda gets very cold when I get to the office in 20 minutes. If you’re a parent you can fit 4 gallons of milk and more. Or if you’re like me, I was able to fit from Costco (with some stacking skills) 1 pack of ribeye, 1 pack of chicken thighs, 2 bags of shrimp, 1 bag of scallop, a few vegetables, and a pack of butter, with room to spare. Remember this is Costco size items. On a smaller sedan about the size of an Honda Accord, you will not be able to open the lid all the way up. We have to pull it to the edge of the trunk, to lift it as high up as possible, but it opens enough to slide the gallons of milk in. Notice I keep mentioning milk.On the right side of the box contains a higher positioned but smaller area to store your soft produce. It perfectly fits the 12oz Redbull sideways. Perfect to where the cans won’t roll if you fill the base of the small storage. The fan does make some noise, if it’s within 2 feet of open air you’ll hear it. In the trunk you won’t.I leave my setting on MAX, so it cools down as quick as possible. I never tried the other settings. One thing I learned now was that there is a USB on the lid, however, the rubber cap to that port is missing on my unit, but I don’t think it’s a big deal.Overall I would and have recommended this item. I took this on a 10 hour journey and it had zero issues. Matter of fact when we parked and left it overnight (on the 15 passenger Transit van it automatically turns off when engine is off) it kept our drinks cold over night. Outside temperature was maybe 45-53F. Inside the container was still reading 40 and it felt like it.One thing I did notice is when the unit is stuffed with cold things, the sensor doesn’t capture it’s accurate reading. I did have a lot of frozen items in there before and it kept reading 30F even when the unit wasn’t on. I assume I had a bag of frozen item on the sensor (not sure where).Overall, 4/5.- .5 for my missing rubber usb piece.- .5 for the (maybe my fault) misreading temperature when stuffed

Pros
  • BATTERY PROTECTION: Battery Protection Mode, from high to low, prevents your car battery from exhausted. When the input voltage is lower than the minimum voltage, the compressor will power off. It saves your time to re-set with memory function for next time.
Cons
  • The AUSRANVIK fridge is heavy and difficult to move around, making it less practical for those who need to constantly shift it
