[EDIT:] I was finally able to get the auto shutter feature to work with my D850 by stripping the Nikon and Comxim cables and manually connecting them together. The problem with the audio adapter I bought was that it was only a 2 wire adapter and the Nikon/Comxim cables were 3 wire. . But I'll only add one star because Comxim doesn't even include a universal 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. Since I had to disable a $20 Nikon-compatible shutter cable with its original remote to get the player to work. If I did this with a genuine 1st manufacturer Nikon cable it would be 3-4 times more expensive. [end edit] The listing says to buy a Nikon control cable from their store. But there is no store and none of their offerings here at Revain have such a cable. So I bought a 3mm to 2.5mm adapter to make the auto photo function work. It's just not possible with my D850. More precisely, the shutter works ONCE, after which the camera emits only light clicks. Turning the camera off and on again, or unplugging and plugging the cable back in, is the only way to get the camera to fire ONE more shutter. After that, the camera only emits light clicks. Power cycling the camera or disconnecting and reconnecting the cable is the only way to get the camera to trigger another trigger. After that, the camera only emits light clicks.
