The drive is installed in the MSI B550-A PRO motherboard in the M2_1 slot with PCIE 4x4 bus support and works directly with the CPU. In the benchmark CrystalDiskMark v8.0.4x64 in sequential read mode 1 queue 1 thread, the drive emits a characteristic high-frequency squeak. In other modes, in several queues and / or several streams, extraneous sounds are not heard. In order to exclude possible interference from the motherboard microcircuits, the drive was moved to another M2_2 slot, which works on the PCIE 3x4 bus and according to a different scheme through the north bridge, and not directly to the CPU. But even in such a connection, in tests of sequential reading with 1 stream and 1 queue, a distinct squeak is heard from the drive. In comparison, another Samsung PM981 512 GB NVMe drive is quiet in the same mode. Opened an appeal to the manufacturer on this issue.
