Review on πŸ’» Samsung Galaxy S8 SM-G950 Unlocked 64GB US Version Midnight Black with US Warranty by Adam Nikodem ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The goods are normal, money is not wasted!

My copy had another defect that others did not have: on the bend (left side), the white is always a little greener than the rest of the screen. It is imperceptible if you do not look closely, but still annoying. What I don't like is that there's no convenient way to unlock the phone when it's on the table: the field of view of the retinal scanner is not enough, the fingerprint sensor is on the back, and the pcode is long. The battery charge is usually enough for a couple of days (messengers, calls, some video, web). If you use Always On Display, it leaks about 1% in 20 minutes, i. E. 100% in 30 hours. Due to AMOLED by default, the screen has acidic colors, but this is solved by the "main screen" mode in the settings. Overall, the phone is near-perfect and packed with all the tech you could want in 2022, aside from the screen issues.

Pros
  • Screen: AMOLED, deep black, rounded corners, high resolution, thin bezels around the edges Design: Symmetric, rounded edges, 5.8" screen phone is more comfortable to hold than the previous 4.7" nexus 4 Water resistance Connectors: 3.5 headphone jack, Usb Type-C, 2 SIM, MicroSD Options: good headphones out of the box, microusb / usb adapter, fast charging, there was also a speaker in the kit, but the sound from it is terrible. Camera (stabilization, hdr, 4k video at 30fps, shooting in the dark) Shell: secure folder, customizability (launcher, softkeys), mulasking (two apps per screen), samsung health
Cons
  • Screen: at an angle of 45 degrees and above, the image turns green (this is not annoying during normal use), in places of rounding on the left and right, too, and at an angle of only 10 degrees (but this is already noticeable. This is probably the biggest drawback of this smartphone for me). Design: The fingerprint sensor is located far away and is difficult to quickly blindly, unless you use a case with which this problem is solved. In addition, due to the unusual aspect ratio of 18:9, the phone turned out to be long and one hand can no longer reach the notification panel (however, it can be opened with a gesture on the fingerprint sensor, and there is a one-handed operation mode) Camera: Focuses poorly at a distance of <10cm when shooting photos and does not focus at all when shooting video. Fingerprint sensor: fast, but periodically refuses to recognize (about 5% of cases, however, after ating to 8.0 Oreo, the problem seems to have been resolved) Retinal Scanner: Fast, but overly sensitive to eye distance and eye position. Programs: a bunch of non-removable software (for example, non-removable facebook, ms office and some kind of ubank), duplicating ogues from google: (samsung notes vs google keep, gallery vs google photo, internet vs google chrome, bixby vs google, samsung music vs play music, play market vs galaxy apps, email vs gmail, 2 calculators, 2 calendars). Almost none of the Samsung apps support landscape mode. Separately, I will highlight the useless bixby istant, which is not disabled by built-in tools, does not understand the 2022 voice and does not allow you to turn on English.
