Our home is fond of well water which is very high in mineral content to the point that tree trunks turn orange wherever sprinklers hit them! This orange discoloration is literally everywhere it comes in contact with our water, and toilets are the worst. Orange-brown deposits are in every toilet and have been since we moved in 10 years ago. I've tried all the usual means of removing it, including products like CLR and pumice stone, which ended up scratching the toilet (oops), but nothing completely removed the stain. Thought I'd give it a try and I'm glad I did because they worked. It takes LOTS of elbow grease, but the pads can remove even 20-year-old stains. The process was slow as it required a lot of cleaning and I don't want to do a large area or regularly but if you have the time and energy you can make an old ugly toilet look new. I cut them in half as this is only a small area where you can apply a lot of pressure to remove the stain. The pads seem to "wear out" relatively quickly; Half a pad was practically useless after a toilet.
