My wife is a big child because of the holiday season (October - December). I don't really have to get my holiday or seasonal stuff out of storage, lug it home, unpack the things I need, and then lug the boxes back to storage. I wonder why I'm not looking forward to the holidays or the changing seasons? So I'm the Grinch. I accept. But I don't want to intentionally spoil my loved one's happiness and with that in mind, I saw these fall decorations from Monsense. It was perfect for my wife's home office as all the boxes were checked for her decorative happiness. fall colors? CHECK OVER! white lights? CHECK OVER! A tree in a burlap? CHECK (don't laugh, many trees are sold for planting this way)! I was able to get it through the Vine program, which also made me happy. Today it arrived in its own box with a shipping label taped to one side (turns out to be the instructions page). When you open the box, you find that the wood is crumpled inside, along with a piece of burlap and string. No further instructions are provided (hopefully your mailing label is taped to one side with no instructions). I was a little dismayed at how the item was placed in the box without a tissue to wrap it. It doesn't affect the product, but I find it a little depressing when I see something like this. stuffed into a box with little care. But that's just me. In any case, the lack of instructions is really not a problem. The plastic base is for three AA batteries which you will need to provide (none of which are included in the tree). Looking at it you wouldn't believe it, but on its stand the tree sits pretty well without weighing the top down (especially after adding batteries to the base). After that, you'll enjoy unrolling the branches and leaves to make it look like a tree losing its leaves. This is pretty easy, but you still have to be careful not to damage anything. When you've finished shaping the tree, you can turn it on with the slide switch on one side of the base. There are three positions: off/on/timer (there's also an input jack if you have an AC adapter you can use). I turned it on and it looked amazing! Then I folded up the burlap to tie around the base, thinking you'd cover the switch as well. Tying and untying the rope to the canvas would soon become a chore, so I folded and knotted the rope over the switch, leaving the canvas slack. You can then open the flap, flip the switch, and then fold back - all without undoing the loop (see image). Now let's show it to my wife who was busy in her office. I brought it in and let it burn on her desk while her back was turned. She turned around and saw this and was very happy. It makes all the little things on the tree worthwhile. This is a great little item for the home or office that looks like you've brought some fall with you.
