These are incredible! I didn't realize this company was still around and making colorforms. They stick to the included design boards, but also stick to the bathtub, fridge and sliding glass door in our house so they can be left out, on the glass door all the time and I'm ok with that because my kids (ages 7-13) ALL play with them and love them. They do "pop" better on a black surface like the design board, or a sliding glass door at night. But they look good on any smooth surface.Once you take them off the sheet they came on, you really can't put them back on in the same place, but that's ok because we leave them out. And if you choose to keep them in a box, they store on the design board or even piled on top of each other. They're well made and hold up to a lot of use. The came with a little booklet of ideas but the sky is seriously the limit on what you can make with these pieces! It's a fantastic imaginative toy that also builds problem solving skills. My kids don't realize they're doing math and patterning while playing ;) This is similar to wooden pattern blocks that my kids love but more versatile and with a greater number of design possibilities. Plus I don't have to clean up all those wooden blocks off the floor and kitchen table. These can stay out on the sliding glass door.
