Smooth and beautiful

I love this product. I'm so impressed with the fit and finish that I'm writing this review just minutes after opening it. The key trip is wonderful. For work, I only use Lenovo ThinkPad laptops, which are said to be the best keyboards in the business. Key travel is a bit shorter on this keyboard, but the switches are just as crisp and give positive tactile feedback. The touchpad is the perfect size; big enough to be comfortable but small enough that I don't get false touches at the base of my thumb unlike Microsoft Surface keyboards. It has a light texture, as opposed to the glassy smoothness of a Mac. I personally like it. The non-guided surfaces have a similar texture but are slightly rougher so you'll know if you're on the touchpad or not. The hinges are solid but don't feel so stiff that I'm afraid of cracking the screen. I'm using an old Surface Pro 4 and the U-shaped brackets fit freely. They are rubber covered to keep the surface itself from slipping when I hold the connected block at a slight angle, but I wouldn't _not_ tilt the connected block 90 degrees - the mounts just don't hold it tight enough. Depending on your use cases, this can be a disadvantage. I'm hoping to use the tablet as a platform for digital art, so being able to easily remove it from the keyboard without fear of it ruining the Surface is definitely desirable. Note that one of the other reviewers said he held his Surface Pro 7 so tightly that the screen cracked when trying to remove it. I can say that I've tested the insertion and removal from the mounts at least ten times and each time it held up correctly and removed easily with no noticeable stress on the surface, but then again, I have a Surface Pro 7. Hinged keyboards are designed so that the keyboard tilts slightly when opened. The angle is less steep than the Microsoft Surface Pro keyboard, but it doesn't have that annoying bounce if you're a clumsy typist like me. There are 3 backlight levels in addition to no backlight at all. It's not very bright at maximum brightness - enough to see translucent letters and keycap outlines, but not so bright as to be distracting. For my finger memory, I want it to keep the same Fn key layout as the Microsoft Surface Pro. Keyboards, but I'm sure Brydge had his own reasons for making subtle changes to the Fn F1-F12 alternate keystrokes (like volume up, volume down, etc.). In summary, this is the first text I wrote on this device. . I was very pleased with the look, feel, and overall integration with the Surface Pro 4, so I wanted to share my first impressions with potential buyers. At $150, it's a lot more expensive than other BT keyboards, but being able to use it on your lap or just not "jumping" when pressing a button on the bottom is worth it with my money's worth in my opinion.
