Review on ๐Ÿ๏ธ ScorpionEXO Unisex Modular/Flip Up Adventure Touring Motorcycle Helmet - Anthracite, Medium (EXO-AT950 Solid) by David Nelson

I wanted to love him but.

Pros: 1) The AT950 is a great value helmet with all the features I wanted (ADV style, external sun visor, fold down chin bar, internal sun visor). 2) This is my third helmet. The Scorpion helmet (they tend to fit me well) and all M helmets fit me. 3) Visibility is excellent and the visor drains water well in the rain. 4) Great for picking up the helmet at the gas station, talking at traffic lights, or when that inevitable sneeze is about to happen. Disadvantages: 1) The left chin strap has double stitching which forms a rigid rigid panel at this point. It hit me right in the corner of my jaw, and after a few long rides the helmet went from being comfortable to being painful. This renders the helmet unusable. If they put the line somewhere else it would be nice (it's higher on the right, and I don't notice it). The seams cannot be cut as that is where the double D-rings are attached. The support team had no solution at all and suggested I buy another helmet. 2) The chin strap is set back and puts a lot more pressure on my throat than a non-modular helmet (all modular helmets are). 3) The face shield fogs up quickly. Even though all the vents are open (which doesn't seem to do anything), I can't get on the bike fast enough before I see moisture smearing on the bottom edges of the visor when the temperature is 50 degrees or less. The good thing is that the helmet can be cracked into the gap because at speeds slower than the freeway you have to open it to see (which is a problem off-road). 4) The sun visor catches a significant amount of wind. which squeezes my head a lot harder at highway speeds than my street helmet. I knew it would be a little problematic, but I was hoping it would be less noticeable. It is detachable. I removed the aero skirt which greatly increased airflow inside the helmet. Not as nice in the cold, but it greatly reduced flogging issues. I considered swapping out the large cheek pads (M and L helmets have the same shell sizes) to have less strap pressure, but overall the helmet was too loose. I ended up heating the knife and melting a slit in the center of the cheek foam so I could thread the left strap through the center of the lining. It relieved the pressure on my jaw from the stitches. Overall I like the helmet but it could have been better out of the box and required fewer modifications.
