Review on πŸ”§ Lisle 97102 Black Plastic Automotive Creeper by Michael Barrett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

All in all a very good Liana, however the price in the store can vary a lot - also note that the wheels are not the same as in the photo.

UPDATE 4/16/2016 :: I've added a photo below showing the wheels the Creeper now comes with versus the old gray urethane wheels it previously came with. This was a big drop in wheels quality for me, but it's still a good creeper. At the time of writing this update, like most other locations, Revain still had the Creeper pictured with the gray wheels. but now it comes with black hard plastic wheels. Having tried foam-lined creepers and other types of creepers, I still prefer hard plastic creepers like this Lisle. And when it came time to buy a new one, and I saw that Lyle was now making this creeper in black (in addition to the traditional red, yellow, and blue colors), I had to go get it. We all know why black is a good color for things like that when working on cars! Most people know the ins and outs of this type of vine - for the pros, there's no hinge system that might wobble during movement, no metal bars/rails on the sides for a shirt to fall through, and no soft materials/ Pads that tear or tear more severely, harsh conditions. Plus, the one-piece plastic construction makes it easy to move and store. I really like that I can grab it by the handle and move it quickly without a headrest. It is simple and light, and easily stands on the wall without negotiation. As for the cons, the plastic might not be all that comfortable for some, and you can still snag your shirt on the wheels if you're not careful. I usually wear a dress shirt (buttoned up) when working on cars and inevitably I forget to button one or two of the bottom buttons and find out after moving the creeper! (I hate when that happens). A few things to note about the Creeper I bought: First, I bought it for $53.96 plus $6.99 shipping and handling here at Revain, and the seller was Tooltopia. I'm not sure if Tooltopia sells this Creeper for the same price, but when I bought it the price on their website was the same as it is here at Revain. Tooltopia is a great seller, I've had many great purchases from them and my Creeper arrived in two days. Interestingly, I've seen this Creeper sell for over $100 in some places, so be careful with the price. Second, the wheels. Previous versions of the Lisle Creepers that I've bought had gray urethane wheels - exactly the same as the ones pictured in this Revain ad at the time I wrote this, and pretty much every Lisle Creepers picture/ad, that I saw. I really like the gray urethane wheels and of course I assumed I would get them with this Creeper. Well guess what - the Creeper now comes with a different wheel - black, harder plastic, which I didn't like. When I called Lyle they said it was a "current replacement" for the creeper and the wheel had been replaced. However, all photos of the Creeper show gray wheels. Luckily I had a set of gray wheels on hand to replace the black ones, but I deducted a star in surprise. Please note you can always change the image to show the new black wheels - just a note. In general, I prefer these types of creepers for their simplicity and what it takes to use and move creepers. Everyone has different needs when it comes to creepers, according to YMMV. Thank you for reading.
