So I wanted to love this. I've always read about charcoal toothpastes and over time I've had a lot of problems (literally): irritated gums, overactive tartar and teeth mysteriously chipping. This product sounded so good. This jar was a little scary to open - no glue, no gel, no paste, just like thickened glue stained with tar. OK. Well I'm sure it has healing properties and I'm ready to scoop some up with my toothbrush, pop this goo in my mouth and enthusiastically brush as usual. Which I did, except for the overpowering clove flavor, a smell I love (especially in an Elizabethan setting) but a taste I absolutely hate, especially when paired with something that smells/tastes like clay. I had to go back to brushing with regular products and flossing to get rid of the horrible taste. It was so bad that the smell made me sick when I took the lid off to take a picture. It is clear that everyone reacts differently to smells. Like 95% of chronic migraine sufferers, I have an oversensitive sense of smell. Just because I find it gross doesn't mean others won't like it. I wish I had as I'm sure it has many benefits but I just can't get past the smell and taste. my needs with the product. Of course, a vendor can't redesign a product for me, but I'm always impressed by vendors who care about reading their reviews and contacting them. Excellent customer care.
