I've used it for steaks and butter. The spatter was all over the plate, but to a lesser extent than otherwise without a protective wall. Haven't tested this yet, but I suspect it would work for eggs etc, something that doesn't take as long and requires more preparation to cook. I'll keep it for occasional cooking, but I wouldn't call it a frying wall. To be honest, my pan does pretty much the same job with the larger sides, but I only use it for veggies and such. At the same time I ordered the Norpro Grip-EZ Red Silicone Splatter Screen Strainer and I like it almost better, if not perfect. Good helpers in cooking, but do not eliminate the need to rinse the stove after cooking, they only splash less oil.
