I am delighted with this bag, looks like I've finally found a backpack for my Quaker parrot that has a combination of features I've found good visibility, good breathability, a perch with convenient attachment options to meet my bird's needs, perch food and water cups included, and a few bonus features like the ability to close the rump. with sunscreen/waterproof material to shade it out or protect it from the elements. Everything looked pretty good after the initial build, which luckily was very easy and intuitive (as no instructions were included). But I immediately noticed that clear PVC tends to warp and crease in places, causing distortion and reflections when viewed through it. Although most sides of the backpack are transparent, they are not as visible as a clear acrylic sheet. I can understand this choice for the back panel as it folds up and has a zipped mesh door at the top, but since the side panels are stiff hard acrylic could have offered a clearer view (and a better bar mount, more on that). next.). There's also an unnecessary green stripe and logo on the back, covering up an extra area that could add visibility. And the weather covers only roll onto the back and bottom half of each side, meaning you still have an exposed mesh intake grille for water and such to enter. The first big mistake showed up when I got the perch in position and screwed on the caps at each end. The bar stays in place but rotates easily. Upon closer inspection I confirmed that this was because the rings that the perch attaches to are not attached to the surrounding clear PVC sheeting. The root cause of this problem becomes apparent when you attach the food/water bowls to the perch; Especially after you add the weight of food and water, put a bird on it and move, you can be sure that these cups won't stay in place. Somehow these cups defeat the whole point if they can't stay securely in place and not just spill food and water on the ground (along with your bird's droppings and probably the bird itself). Note: They advertise this can be used on cats, dogs, mini macaws and baby cockatoos. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for more than one Quaker parrot, just because one animal fits in doesn't mean it's the right place for it. And especially with the small mesh zipper, it's really only for birds. You can carry a kitten or a small puppy here but it shouldn't be recommended for other pets, it's clearly intended for medium to small sized birds and hopefully they'll improve it to be a stronger offering for it. And I really don't know what they were thinking with the included bird foot leash. Seems like an attempt to upgrade the bird backpack from a manufacturer that doesn't really understand birds. It is a spring loaded plastic (TPU) leash with metal clips on each end. A smaller one with a thin wire clip, presumably for attaching to a bag. The other is larger, with smooth, rounded metal edges, presumably for a bird's foot so as not to hurt it too badly when it reaches its end. But many important considerations are omitted here; The larger clip is large enough to just securely fit on the paw of an adult cockatoo or macaw. Birds that big don't fit in this backpack. Something smaller could definitely break out of this bind, I certainly wouldn't trust my Quaker to stop that. And a leash with a clothespin is a terrible idea for a parrot, he will still chew on the leash if you leave it with him and if he manages to pull it back when trying to fly away you may injure your bird . if that happens, tie a leash to one of their legs. You should forgo this "extra feature" entirely as it can result in unknowing bird owners injuring and/or losing their birds after trusting this leash. If you need a line, buy something that's really made for the job - something with a full line, like a fly line. Pros: - Good ventilation, mesh lining on all sides and openings along the transparent lining at the bottom ensure good ventilation. With a foldable Oxford fabric lining, it can be insulated against heat, water, light and cold (upper side meshes are partially still open). Decent visibility from all angles, although the foldable clear liner lacks uniformity. Clarity, and the top half, which is probably at head height, is basically a tapered grille facing the screen door. Comfortable and stylish, the straps, padding and color scheme are very well thought out, although a waist belt is completely unnecessary. Additionally - multiple holes in a flexible transparent PVC liner for different seat heights. Most birds will probably be happy with the central perch, the other two being placed uncomfortably close to the edges. Water retention in particular is extremely unreliable - the sheer lining tends to warp and flex, bounded by the bottom half and a few thin stripes at the top back (but with a green stripe and logo at eye level), meaning your birds will will Get a limited and distorted window on the outside world. The included leash is not only poorly designed and mis-advertised, it is also a safety hazard. DO NOT USE A LEAD ON YOUR BIRD.
