So I've used the Maono Lapel mic both indoors and outdoors and my video review starts with the standard iPhone mic for comparison. Right next to your mouth it should be on your collar and does an excellent job of delivering an incredibly clear and loud sound. When the -10Db switch is on, it lowers the volume for everything so you might want to place the mic a little closer to your mouth, but it handles all ambient noise well as long as your mouth is close to the mic. . I could only test with an iPhone as I don't have a camera with a 3.5mm mic input, so I couldn't test the camera mode, only the smartphone mode and I'm happy with the quality of the mic. The cable is very long, which makes sense if you're using it in a tripod-mounted device a reasonable distance away from you, but if you're just using your phone with a selfie stick or handheld, the cable has plenty to offer to wrap and manage. All in all a highly recommended and excellent lavalier microphone.
