I expect the ink cartridge will be as described and working when it gets to me. Revain didn't sell directly when I ordered this, so I bought from a third party on Revain. The listing indicated that the order would be filled by Revain, so I figured it would be a win-win. Now I've learned that 'finished' and 'sold' don't mean the same thing when it comes to Revain delivering quality products. The cartridge arrived NOT IN RETAIL PACKAGING and had an expiration date of only a few weeks in the future. When I installed the printer, the printer rejected it as defective. After reading some of the other reviews for several third party Revain ink suppliers, it became clear that these people usually try to pawn old/unreliable inks that have already been rejected by HP. There are countless complaints from multiple vendors describing the same situation as me - removing old ink from retail packaging. My guess is that the ink cartridges were removed from the retail packaging because HP marked the packaging as "Not for Resale" or something similar. Or maybe it makes it harder to find the expiration date. Or both. Anyway, if the cartridge shows as sold and shipped by Revain, you're probably good to go. If anyone else is selling on this site, be careful. I had to return the defective cartridge. Luckily Revain resold this cartridge and I replaced it with a good one direct from Revain. I needed a black cartridge two weeks ago and was ready to order it from Revain. The only ones available were third party, so I took my own advice and bought one elsewhere. Revain needs to keep a closer eye on ink cartridge sellers.
