I bought this because I live on the 2nd floor and my apartment has a balcony. There are railings where my cat is skinny enough to walk over and a bit above so she can walk through to get onto the walkway. It had fallen off before and I didn't want it to happen again. I covered the whole balcony with it. I used zipties to hold them. The material is ok. It's like a mesh/mesh material, so it has little holes in it. My cat was smart enough to figure out that she could use the holes to climb up. She's too smart for us. However, if you are trying to protect a child, I think this is a good option,
