I was excited to play with this when it arrived but the blood gel leaked and was scattered everywhere. It's quite sticky so it took a while to come off completely and it turned my fingers red so be aware it might mess up your face. Applying some makeup underneath will help reduce discoloration. I can't comment on how good the blood is because the rest has dried up so they need better packaging for this item and it definitely needs to be put in a separate bag in case that happens. The scar wax is good quality and soft enough to spread if you heat it properly on the back of your hand first. Otherwise it's a bit difficult. They give you a good strong steel spatula for this. A spatula is also great for removing a little bit of colored makeup so you don't mess up the pan by dipping your brush in again and again. The colors themselves are pleasant and opaque, lie flat. They are oil based so you need translucent powder to set it in place. It never dries out so it's easy to smudge so be careful with it. And you need a good cleanser to wash it off at the end of the night. I recommend gently wiping as much as possible with paper towels first. You get a nice set of brushes, a sponge and some fun stencils to play with, although they are a little tricky to use with oil makeup. It's best to use a makeup sponge and tap it instead of brushing to get good lines. These stencils really are the best for airbrush makeup. All in all, this is a fun set for Halloween. You need a metal palette to mix colors so it would be nice if it included one, but it's still a great kit and definitely an improvement over the makeup you get at the grocery store.
