I have never read the manual. The packaging said side 1 up, so I put the protective film side 1 up. only to find out later that side 1 is the sticky side that should be facing down (towards the screen). Since the 1st screen protector was ruined by dust, I followed the instructions (which said side 1 is facing down) and was able to stick the 2nd screen protector perfectly. This is a life saver for impatient people like me who never read instructions. The screen protector itself is perfect. It's so smooth my fingers glide effortlessly across the screen, and it's so clear I don't notice the screen protector. I use amFilm screen protectors on all my devices and will definitely use their screen protectors on future devices. You don't have to spend more than $35 for expensive screen protectors (Cough, Zagg. Cough) that are no better.
