Review on Carrs 104812 Hoop Polished Pair by Keith Stuckey

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Functional, barely and not very high quality.

Bad molding around the steps. I sanded them down and finished them off to make them look presentable. The initial polish was fine I think, but it wasn't up to my standards and by no means a show quality polish. The castings are wavy and slightly pitted, making them look much better after grinding and polishing. The installation instructions are generic, so be prepared to cover them for your specific application. The mounting method itself is a little lame, allowing the rocker panels to flex with my 205-pound weight applied to the step. My girl is much lighter and the flex under her foot is more reasonable. I doubt I'll be using the kickstand much, if ever, after seeing the flex of the sill, but I'm sure the passenger side would be good for my girlfriend. Anyway, she likes it. Mounts appear to be reliable. The truck's rocker panels are bent. It would be nice to use thicker, longer brackets or otherwise reinforce the rocker panel. I would like to propose a solution. Possibly an angle piece built into the assembly device. The steps are big enough, the foot area is non-slip and the adjustment range of the brackets is good. I didn't use the zinc hardware that came with it, choosing my own marine grade stainless steel nuts and bolts. 2013 Ford F250 4x4 Super Cab with 8 foot bed. If you attach a tape measure to the first bolt in the rocker behind the front wheel (under the truck and the bolt is sticking out about an inch from the rocker) and pull the tape measure toward the back of the truck, your first bolt will do the trick go 20 5/8" center off the tape measure for this bolt. My goal was to avoid spot welds and seams in the rocker panel and this is the only spot that was acceptable. Check both sides of the hold down seam before drilling to make sure Make sure you don't have any unwanted rocker panels (existing welds, holes and vertical seams) If my girlfriend was taller I would take them off Although I can be a bit picky it does take a bit of jiggling to find a better/other fairing Solution, I'll leave it activated.
