I was looking for a simple looking but durable scratching post and this one is fantastic. I've had it for over two months now and as you can see from the picture it still looks great! It leaves no marks or pieces after my cat scratches it. A few suggestions: smear catnip all over your body or use catnip spray to pique your interest and find out where your cat already likes to scratch and lay. It will only help speed up the process of regular use. So yes, if your cat likes to scratch its hind legs, it will have a hard time resisting!
