hast line) about a month and I am very satisfied with the modern design, reliable performance and low maintenance. I love the simple industrial look of the all metal construction and it goes well with my mix of modern and traditional decor. I went for the matte silver finish and think it's gorgeous, albeit understated. I focused a lot on the looks, but it turned out that the all-metal construction also has practical advantages. A full metal construction has no handle to break. Over time I've gotten cracks in my knife handles from wear and tear and the good intentions of the helpers who put them in the dishwasher. Hand washing is also best for the Hast Parer, but I suspect it can be put in the dishwasher from time to time if it dries quickly to avoid rusting or water stains. The metal construction also makes it easy to hand wash, as there are no rivets, pads, or other places for food to get caught. I washed my hands and the matte silver finish on my knife looks perfect with no stains. ). It's a rare day that I don't use Parer as it's so versatile I use it for most meals and snacks. Up to now I have been using this saver several times almost daily for peeling, slicing and chopping small and medium fruits and vegetables like potatoes, kiwi, apples, mini peppers, garlic, etc. I've also used it to separate shrimp and cut hard cheese into thin blocks. While paring knives vary in length, this one has a 3.5 inch blade which I personally find the most useful and meets all of my needs. I like to use this Hast paring knife to make cooking less labor intensive. It arrived super sharp (packaged in boxes with safety protection) and retains a sharp edge even after a month of regular use. It's made from Matrix powder steel, which should hold a sharp edge longer, a claim I support since I haven't had to sharpen this knife despite almost daily use. This is a plus as I still don't have the confidence to properly sharpen my knives at the right angle despite being a fairly experienced chef. The peeler has hollow handles and feels light. Some might think this makes the Parer and other haste knives cheap, but for me this is a positive thing as the Parer feels balanced. I also have a firm grip on my knives, so I find the lighter design reduces fatigue when cooking a lot of hard foods like potatoes or apples. Despite the metal handle, I didn't lose my grip or drop the knife even when my hand was wet. This parer looks ergonomic and comfortable. The metal throughout moves from a thinner blade to a wider and longer hollow square handle. I can position my hand anywhere on the continuum to find a natural and comfortable grip. I hold the saver with the handle close to my palm and can't tell if the long handle (see photo) fits miniature hands. I doubt this will be an issue, but I mention it as it might be a consideration. I love the Parer and other Haste knives I've tried in this collection. 5 Stars. Made in China.
