Review on Xero Shoes Barefoot Inspired Sport Sandals Women's Shoes by Cindy Plant

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm Casey and I support these sandals!

I am an avid hiker and I love these sandals! I usually wear trail runners (topo) when I'm on the trail and flip flops everyday (one day trail life will be everyday!). Anyway, I wanted to go to Kauai for a vacation and then to Texas for the summer and wanted my feet to breathe the heat and humidity. I tried Chaco and found them too bulky for my liking so decided to give these a try. Using it on Kauai was great. Holds up well on dry roads. However, on rainy days, when the paths were covered with wet clay, they proved very slippery; The sound would get between my foot and the insole, resulting in many awkward steps. The lava/river rock hike wasn't stunning either and resulted in stitches and lots of scrapes so I wouldn't recommend it for the area. But for dry, normal trails or easy river crossings, they're really great and very comfortable. I didn't have the fit issue some people talk about. I wear between 5/6 US and ordered the smallest size. They fit great and are very easy to adjust. ***Edit: I prepared for a hike today and used it on the treadmill. My usual adjustment of the straps (slightly loose) allowed them to be tight when used on the treadmill, so I adjusted them tighter. I adjusted the front and back straps much tighter. That's when I realized it was pulling my heel to one side as shown in other reviews. I loosened the back strap a bit to allow for heel movement but left the front straps tight and that fixed the issue. Not sure if this is an issue for others, but I would definitely experiment with adjusting the strap. It takes a little time to find the right "setup" but it's worth it if you like minimalist shoes. This may not be suitable for some people with wide feet; I have a fairly standard foot width and about a half inch insoles off the outside edges. evaluate. I'm just a person who suffers from blisters while hiking and I was looking for the most efficient and effective shoes.
