The writing on this belt suggests that the buckle can be removed and the belt cut but this is a clear misconception. The buckle cannot be adjusted at all as the zippered compartment goes all the way to the buckle. You can trim the other end of the belt, but the cut will be messy and leave lots of jagged edges and threads of fabric. I would have just sent it back if it was more expensive, but I used a lighter to burn off the edges of the piece I cut off. They still look unkempt but luckily I didn't buy this belt to wear.
