Review on Baofeng BF-888S Radio by Ada Bronowicka ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not a bad purchase, worth the money.

An extremely convenient option for walkie-talkies, both for private traders and professionals. Motorists and tourists will be delighted with it. So that there is no doubt how "hitting" the original radio station is, here is an example for a dense urban area with traffic and cell towers: (!): -250 m - stable connection. -500 m - stable connection. -750 m - communication with occasional interference. -1000 m - communication with interference and loss of elements. Imagine what results can be obtained in open areas. And here I will say that some well-known brands did not even give me that close.

Pros
  • Due to the specifics of my activity, I often touch on purchases of walkie-talkies of various brands. And the Chinese, for the last ten years, have been surprising with the high parameters and quality of their products. I must add that big brands in this area should learn from Baofeng. For those who are going to buy these walkie-talkies, here's what needs to be emphasized. The original walkie-talkies are supplied in color boxes with inscriptions in Chinese and English. The minimum price tag of one walkie-talkie from the original delivery should be something around $ 20 (with a headset more expensive). What is sold in the markets in brown boxes without inscriptions has no obvious origin. The original radios have a metal chassis (visible with the battery removed) and two stickers on it. The original antenna is designed for the desired frequencies and is marked on the base of the screw part (keep this fact in mind when flashing!). Batteries come in several options (with white and black labels). Headsets come with black and silver buttons. + Lightweight, high-quality and comfortable, impact-resistant housing (meets physical protection standards) + Standard UHF/FM (400-470 MHz) + Transmitter power 5 W (tested range up to 6-8 km in open area) + There is a transmitter power switch + High sensitivity + Number of channels 16 + There is CTCSS, DCS coding + There is a voice guidance of functions and voice activation via a headset (VOX) + There is a channel scan + There is an emergency channel + There is programming from a computer + There is a scrambler (on the left there is no) + Detachable antenna design (high quality and flexible) + There is a built-in backlight / flashlight + Operating time up to 10 h + Battery type Li-Ion + Charger glass (normal physical quality) + The presence of a charge indicator, energy saving mode + The presence of noise reduction and threshold + Ability to connect a headset
Cons
  • - When using in the rain, it is better to pack in a bag.
