We used this to create a hideous looking carpet at our daughter's (indoor) wedding covered. The fabric is a fleece similar to an iron-on interfacing with a rose pattern. It easily withstood the blows of the hairpins and did not tear at all, even with fairly intense movement during communion. To prevent tripping, we used double-sided tape to secure the sides of the runner to the floor. Tape sitting on the front edge of the slider would not have been sufficient on its own, and the edges tended to curl up a bit without tape. While it doesn't look as pretty as the good canvas sidewalks that churches used to give, it was certainly more than adequate and definitely looked better than the sidewalk would have looked without it.
