I bought 2 of these devices. One failed in less than a week. First, it started dropping out of Windows Explorer periodically. It then went into the infamous "click" mode and kept reinitializing itself. Eventually, it disappeared completely, effectively blocking the computer from starting. It's not at all impressive that a drive that's only used for backups every few days can't last a week. The second disk (so far) continued to work. I used it in an external USB enclosure as an extra backup drive. I had to try 2 brands of cases before the drive stayed securely connected. Again not impressive. I went and bought 2 western digital discs. The manufacturer may be the same, but I've had no problems with WD drives.
