I bought a set of two of these wire frame bifocals and a set of two plastic frame bifocals and kept them around the house so I don't have a tower of them all the time. Plastic framed bifocals from the same company seem to be a little more durable and solid, but so far I haven't had any issues with thinner metal frames. I have a small face. I think it might be uncomfortable for someone with a very wide face, but since I don't have a face like that I don't know for sure (use metal in this case, they seem more flexible). I recently had cataract surgery and when the lens was replaced the doctor put corrective lenses in both eyes so I no longer need distance glasses. only to read. They do their thing: I can read something on my desk and then look up through the uncorrected part of the lens and see my computer screen clearly.
