As a Router: I bought this product 5 years ago to get internet access on several home devices as it has the best rated routers on Revain.com would have. So I won't tell you how good it is as a router. As an access point: But last year, when I moved into a new house, I needed to extend the network signal range for my house. And a hotspot was also needed for my internet phone and desktop computer which are disconnected from my router (due to the weird wiring in my house) and need a wired connection to the hotspot. So first I thought about selling this old router on ebay or something and then buying a new N router and access point which can cost around $200-$300. After a little research on the internet I found out that with a firmware update I can use the WRT54GS as a wireless access point. After purchasing a D-Link DIR-655 N router, an hour of firmware upgrades, and setting up an access point, I had a perfect and brand new $100 network system in my house. I've been using it as an access point for a year. I've never had any problems with it. If you are considering the Wireless G option, I recommend this product for its reliability and versatility as a router and access point.
