While this is indeed a direct replacement for the original fan, I had to do a little fiddling to install it: this fan has a nut that protrudes from the center of the fan hub and does it thick enough that it doesn't slip past the power steering pump pulley (the old fan slipped out). The easy fix was to remove the main fan cover so there was enough room to slide the fan down and then snap it into place. Once installed, it was a perfect fit, and the included electrical adapter made it easy to connect to the stock wiring in a '98 Cherokee with a 4.0-liter I-6.
