This loom makes a HUGE hat! I wear a very large 7 7/8 hat and the hat this loom makes floats freely on my head. The loom can be useful for making flat items up to about 32 inches wide. At 7/8" the caliber is slightly wider. There are 41 pins and the outer circumference of the pins is 34.5 inches. With an odd number of needles (41) some patterns become difficult if not impossible to make on this loom .and I am very happy with it.Edit
